After a nearly six month hiatus, we've learned that Midwestern Pro Wrestling will be returning to the North American Wrestling Council immediately. Matthew Saunders released some information in regards to the re-launch of 'MPW' earlier this evening. Saunders said that Parker Smith would be taking over the reigns of the promotion, and would have full authority to run the territory as he wished. Parker was most recently in the role of Talent Scout and Acquisition for the North American Wrestling Council. Parker took to twitter shortly after the announcement to inform the wrestling world of some of his plans for the promotion. Below are some of the key points that he emphasized.
- The North American Tag Team Champions; Pressure Point would be calling 'MPW' their home. Parker played a key role in bringing Brinley Bishop & Tyson Brewer together over a year ago, and has stated that the top tag team in the NAWC will be put to the test in Midwestern Pro.
- MPW would welcome back the tag team talents of the Hawaiian Hitmen & Spin Cycle.
- MPW Stalwart Shane Severe would be returning to the company.
- Eric Carlson from Northern Pro Wrestling has agreed to a contract with MPW, which was orchestrated in a cash trade to acquire his services.
- The 'Scottish Sledgehammer' Hugh Gabriel has agreed to bring his talents to the Midwest.
- Jackson Evans enjoyed success in the NAWC - taking part in the Anniversary Celebrations Supershow, as well as being a finalist in the CHC Tournament. Evans has agreed to a contract with MPW.
Parker Smith also stated that since this was a re-launch, that all championships would be considered vacant, while keeping the lineage of former champions in tact. Parker encouraged any former champion who wanted to reclaim their gold - to get in contact with him immediately.
More news as it develops.
