The Ted Reeve arena has hosted many memorable wrestling events in it’s time. On this occasion, it would host the second night of the Cruiserweight Cup. The competitors from various regions within the NAWC were all in attendance, looking to take their claim as the top wrestler under 225 pounds. The night got underway with the defending champion, locking up with an upstart from PURE-1.

Willard Manchester [NPW] vs. Reed Bellam [PURE-1]
--
After having wrestled Ty Walker to a draw in his first bout of the tournament – Willard Manchester upped the aggression in this contest against Reed Bellam. Bellam was game to the challenge, but it started to become clear as the match wore on, that the former North American Cruiserweight Champion was on another level. Manchester was toeing the line of breaking the rules wherever he could – especially when he had control of Bellam on the mat and he was in the ropes looking to break free from Manchester’s submissions.
The referee had to admonish Manchester for his liberal use of the five count. After a couple of warnings, Manchester knew that he had stretched things as far as he could. A mistimed flying cross body from Bellam found him laying facedown on the mat. Manchester circled, before locking Bellam up in a camel clutch submission, to which he reared back with all of his might and forced his opponent to shout ‘uncle’.
Winner: Willard Manchester via Camel Clutch (7:12)

Eric Dane Jr. [NPW] vs. Tyrone Walker [FA]
--
This match was circled by wrestling historians galore when it as announced. Team Danger ran roughshod over the wrestling world for the better part of 15 years, and to some degree continue to do so. The words exchanged in the weeks prior to this event would indicate that there would be no love lost between the two men, regardless of their connection to Eric Dane.
What followed was pleasing to the crowd, as both men put forth their best efforts. EDJ has come along way in his first three years in the wrestling business, and his last year in NPW has served as an excellent launching pad for his future. Tyrone Walker certainly couldn’t afford to lose this match for a multitude of reasons – no greater than the impact it might have on his relationship with Eric Dane.
The match was hard hitting for ten minutes, with EDJ showcasing an innate ability to withstand punishment, and defiantly fight back. The crowd was behind their local wrestler from the start, and served as great motivation for the young wrestler to stay competitive in this match. However, Walker’s experience would eventually serve him well – and the Big Black Crusher he executed turned the lights out for EDJ once and for all – earning Tyrone his first victory of the tournament.

[Intermission.]
As the crowd was about to leave their seats to have a bio-break – their attention was immediately brought back to ringside, as SLAM JAM World Champion; Johnny Dreamer was back again – with a mic in his hand. Johnny ran down the Cruiserweight Classic, and the city of Toronto as a whole. Johnny threatened to ruin the rest of the night, and there wasn’t anything anyone could do to stop him.
The crowd voiced their displeasure and chanted ‘go away’, as they weren’t even as much offended as they were bothered by the gall of Johnny Dreamer. Dreamer seemed to enjoy being the center of attention, and did all he could to continue to rile the fans up.
[Marcus Smith.]
The second generation wrestler hoped the guardrail, and went nose to nose with ‘JD’. Marcus snatched the mic from Johnny’s hand, and said that he wasn’t going to allow Johnny to go into business for himself at the expense of the other’s who were there to compete. Marcus said that if Johnny was looking for a conflict, he didn’t have to look any further, as he would be the man to take him down.
Johnny initially declined Smith’s request, and turned his back on him. Smith jolted Dreamer back in his direction, bringing the two men face to face. Marcus reminded Johnny of his actions on Night 1, and also mentioned the fact that the championship belt that he was toting around these parts meant very little if he wasn’t going to put his money where his mouth was. The crowd then got in on the act, and started to mock ‘JD’ – which drew his ire to the point where he agreed to wrestle Marcus right then and there – BUT, it would be a Non Title Affair. Marcus agreed.
A referee ran to the ring from the back, and called for the bell!
[Bonus Action!]
The fans watched as the two men circled each other, before locking up. Johnny took Marcus’s back with a go-behind, to which Marcus rolled forward and used his legs to grapevine Johnny’s arms to the mat with a victory roll! The referee was in position, and counted Johnny Dreamer’s shoulders to the mat for the three count!
[RAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!]
The crowd pop was loud enough to blow the roof off of the arena. Marcus rolled out of the ring, where there referee met him and raised his hand in victory. Johnny Dreamer was still in the ring, looking absolutely stunned!
In the midst of the fans mocking ‘JD’ he grabbed ahold of the referee and DDTed him head first to the arena floor. Marcus Smith decided to stand tall, and started to brawl with ‘JD’ around ringside. This brought four other officials out from the back to separate the two men.
Once the referee were successful in doing so, they eventually calmed both men down, and forced them back to the locker room area so the tournament could continue.

Dan Patterson © [A*P] vs. Jay Stevens [SLAMJAM]
--
Both men had won their first matches in the tournament, so this match would essentially secure a spot in the final four for the victor. Not only that, Dan Patterson had to be equally on edge about the fact that he could lose his Cruiserweight Championship at anytime. The young Jay Stevens was up for the challenge, as it’s clear that this young grappler has a ton of upside.
Both men kept their work on the proper side of the law, and the fans were delighted to see a high degree of sportsmanship shared between the two. In the end, it was the champion who was able to get the pinfall victory in the contest with a flying elbow drop around the ten minute mark.

Corgi Mask [FA] vs. HNDRXX [GCGC]
--
The final match on day two of the event pitted two men who were searching for their first points of the tournament. A loss in this match would effectively eliminate one man from the competition. The fans could sense the desperation that each man wrestled with, and they implored both men to give it their best efforts.
Corgi Mask was bouncing all over the ring like a spitfire – dazzling the crowd with high risk moves. He was able to keep HNDRXX on his toes for the first half of the contest. A mis-timed shooting star press started to even the match. HNDRXX also took to the air and showcased a wide range of high flying assaults. The match came to an end when HNDRXX reversed a hurricanrana attempt by Corgi Mask into a powerbomb – which lead to HNDRXX climbing to the top rope and hitting his opponent with the ‘Thug Waffle’. The referee made the count, and HNDRXX picked up his first win of the tournament.
Winner: HNDRXX via The Thug Waffle (8:18)
