- Elimination Games has come and gone, and the initial feedback from the fans in the attendance was that it was a success. Whether or not this concept becomes an annual event remains to be seen. During the broadcast, a video teaser was released for what we can only assume is the next NAWC Event. December will mark the one year anniversary since the NAWC was conceived. We're being told to expect more announcements in the coming weeks in regards to a direction for the anniversary show.
- Say what you want about Oxford Osland, but with each passing appearance he proves to be a very dangerous man. The initial narrative was that Oxford Osland would need a few years before realizing his talents, and becoming a main event player. Look not further than what he accomplished leading up to Elimination Games - where he defeated Ralph Erickson in a Championship vs. Championship match. Osland followed up that performance by orchestrating a 'hit' on Kenneth Marshall, which was carried out by I-69. When Jon and Parker Smith sought to ensure that that kind of activity wouldn't continue - Osland showed that he was able to mix well with the current North American Tag Team Champions; The World Beaters. The way Osland, Brown and Thompson navigated their match was truly cerebral. In the end, Osland showed that he's able to make the most of whatever situation he's in. As Osland left the arena last night, he was overheard saying that he was finally able to get a victory over Alec Kirkland. Albeit a 3 on 1 triple powerbomb might not be characterized as a clean victory to some, Osland certainly didn't see it that way. With Osland's reign as North American Champion set to reach the 365 day mark - the question remains.... 'Who will be able to finally defeat him?'
- Speaking of Kenneth Marshall, we can confirm that he was taken to local hospital for x-rays on his injured right knee. Marshall and his former rival Alec Kirkland have worked hard to position themselves as the number one contenders to the North American Tag Team Championships - but with this most recent setback, one has to wonder whether the duo will be able to succeed in capturing the championships. The World Beaters have proven to be true tag team specialists since they won the championship at Tag Wars earlier this year. After putting on another dominant performance at Elimination Games, it would appear that the confidence is at an all-time high. We're being told that we can expect to hear an announcement about who will be the next challengers to The World Beaters in the near future.
- I-69 have proven to be willing to go to extreme lengths to earn advantages over this opponents - or anyone that might be a threat to the North American Championship. Nothing showcased this more than their actions at Elimination Games. What they weren't expecting, was for Jon Smith to reach out to his brother and ask him to bring his 'boys' to the arena to shut them down. Brinley Bishop learned first hand what I-69 is capable of when they put him on the shelf in February for eight weeks. Bishop thought he and Oxford Osland were set to take on the world together - but Osland had other plans. That plan included I-69 becoming his bullet proof vest, while discarded two years of friendship with Bishop in the process. Fast forward nine months, in an ironic twist - it would be Bishop and Tyson Brewer being recruited to keep the peace. Instead, Bishop saw red, and also saw an opportunity to exact some revenge in the process. Based on what we saw at Elimination Games, I think it's safe to assume that Brinley Bishop and Tyson Brewer aren't playing around - and they know full well to expect some sort of retaliation. This situation is something to monitor.
- What else can be said about Bloodline? Since Edgar Delgado was revealed to be their leader they've steamrolled the competition. Santiago Ortega and Manuel Mayorga carried out strict order from their lieutenant, and their plan was masterful. As each day passes, their ascent to the top continues. The insertion of Death Adder into the mix is an interesting piece to monitor. Death Adder has been a devout member of the Manos Del Muerte stable for many years. Up until recently, Death Adder knew where he stood amongst their ranks. As of late, the water's have been muddled, and chaos from within was enough for Adder to branch out and look for work elsewhere. Based on some of the situations that played out at Elimination Games, Death Adder seemed to fit very well within the ranks of Bloodline. Has Edgar Delgado made a full time pitch to the Manos del Muerte member? If he has, will it be accepted? Does this potentially spark a rivalry between the two factions? Que Cera, Cera.
- Speaking of Manos Del Muerte - in an ironic turn of events, the bullies ended up getting bullied. At least temporarily. When Manos Del Muerte issued an open challenge to anyone I'm not sure they expected four unknown assailants to sneak attack them from behind with the intention of making a name for themselves. Rich Lansing 'super agent' seemed to be the mastermind of a blindside with Gran Barbaro and crew as the target. Now, if you were to ask anybody worth a damn about attacking Manos Del Muerte, they would tell you not to be suicidal. Either these four man are completely oblivious, or they couldn't care less about the 'blow back' that could be coming their way. In order for that to happen, someone is going to have to track these men down - as they left the arena without revealing much about who they were, and why they were there. Other than the cryptic words of Lansing, expressing a desire to take wrestling back to the Golden Age - not much else has been brought to light as of yet. One has to wonder how things might've played out had the four assailants fought 'Manos' face to face, and without the surprise element in their favour.
- Another highlight from Elimination Games was the match for the CJW Women's Championship. Rumours have been circulating that there is a desire to create a full-time women's division within the ranks of the NAWC. This match served as the litmus test for such a division. Truth be told, the three ladies knocked it out of the park. Lilith has been a dominant champion in CJW, and to her credit - she had the guts to engage two other women's wrestlers from outside of her home territory. The Queen of Sorrow has proven to be absolutely vicious in A*P - often getting herself into trouble for making her opponents suffer beyond the bell. Graysie Parker is an unknown, but rumour has it she scored a pinfall over a very renowned Former World Champion at a recent training session. Parker disappeared shortly there after, until she showed up at Elimination Games, ready to compete. Someone on the inside has some answers as it pertains to how this all took place - and we're still waiting to hear from a reliable source how this came to be. In the interim, we are now left to salivate over what a women's division could look like as we head into 2020.
- We have a new Canadian Heritage Champion, and it's Gentry McCray. After a degree of pageantry, Gentry finally inked a contract with Northern Pro Wrestling and wasted little time in reminding the wrestling world who he is, and what's he's capable of. After defeating Marcus Smith in the finals, Gentry solidified himself as a major player going forward in the NAWC. Keep an eye on Jackson Evans and his recent 'change of heart' in regards to his feelings towards Gentry. After weeks of pursuing a match with McCray, Evans essentially did everything in his power to try and take Gentry off of his game. As luck would have it, the two men were able to settle their differences inside the ring, to which Gentry was able to secure a submission victory over Evans in the semi-finals of the tournament. Right before Gentry was set to go through the curtain to wrestle in the finals, Evans appeared to be complimentary of McCray, and offered him his hand in friendship. Something about this just doesn't sit right with me. Based on Gentry's reaction, he smelled a rat as well. Jackson Evans seems intent on continuing his mind games, even though they've been unsuccessful to this date. But once again - congratulations to Gentry McCray for his victory in the 16 man single elimination tournament.
- Eric Dane Jr. has become the topic of much discussion as of late in Northern Pro Wrestling. The second generation star received quite the surprise when Japanese Ace; Sato Watanabe took a genuine interest in his safety at the Canadian Heritage Finale show. 'EDJ' found himself in a precarious position, when he ran into the Shooters Club in less than desirable circumstances. Watanabe was able to flex enough muscle to get the Shooters Club thinking about his reputation as a legit badass. Based on his reaction 'EDJ' was caught completely off guard. It appears as though Watanabe is looking to impart some knowledge on the young grappler, and is doing so from an 'old school' perspective. Sometimes, these things just happen for a reason. EDJ was looking for Eric Carlson, after what had transpired in their match earlier in the evening. Although he didn't locate Carlson - he was able to potentially change the direction of his career in a completely organic way.
- Speaking of Watanabe - his proteges - The Shining Stars from the land of the rising sun were once again successful in defending the Imperial Crown Tag Team Championships. After defeating the Shooters Club for a second time with the gold on the line, one is left to assume that their next program will be against a new set of challengers. That number one contender's slot is completely wide open currently. It will be interesting to see which team ceases the opportunity.
- An interesting dynamic is evolving between Demonio Azteca Jr. and Paco Losantio. Losantio came within inches of winning the A*P Grand Championship, only to come up short. Throughout his career, Losantio has been at odds with Manos Del Muerte, and since he lost his mask, seems to have a bit of a complex in regards to his confidence. This is where Azteca Jr. scomes into play. Azteca seems intent on convincing Losantio to alter the very core of who he is, with the mind of increasing his odds of being successful against Gran Barbaro and the rest of his crew. While Losantio has dismissed Azteca's advances up until now, one has to wonder if he will be able to do so infinitely. A lot of what Azteca is saying, makes sense. This is definitely a situation to keep an eye on.
- We are hearing rumours that February is when the Cruiserweight Cup will make an appearance once again. This round robin tournament will pit eight of the NAWC's very best wrestlers under the 225 pound limit against one and other. The winner of the tournament, will receive a championship match against current NAWC Cruiserweight Champion; Dan Patterson. For those of you who love tournaments, this will be something you will want to keep tabs on as we move into 2020.
- The Patriarch of the Hagen Family is at it again. Word on the street is that Lars Hagen is currently developing a new project that he plans to distribute through the appropriate channels in the very near future. This project is being dubbed ''A Pilot' of sorts, which could result in a full fledged promotion should it's debut be well received. The whispers around the water cooler are that Lars is currently in talks with Matthew Saunders about becoming affiliated with the NAWC in some way. If this is true, you can expect this to cause a major lift in profile and productivity within the ranks of the NAWC. As it stands today, as we head towards 2020, you expect the NAWC to find it's way into more homes and arenas all over North America.
