We open inside of an old gymnasium. Those who have followed the Northern Pro Wrestling might recognize the setting as being Gus Arnold's wrestling school. Rumours have been swirling over the past month, ever since it was announced at the Battle of Baltimore event that NPW would be holding a single elimination tournament to crown the Canadian Heritage Champion.
Gus sits in front of us, wearing his St. Francis Xavier sweatshirt, and his bi-focals on the very tip of his nose.
Gus Arnold: "The purpose of this video is the announce the pairings in the Canadian Heritage Championship tournament which is set to take place throughout the month of October. The venues will be decided based on our touring schedule, so please get your tickets for our LIVE events as they go on sale."
Gus clears his throat, and produces a line sheet of white paper from which he begins to read from.
Gus Arnold: "The Canadian Heritage Championship will be decided over the span of a month, as 16 of Northern Pro Wrestling's finest will compete in a single elimination tournament. The man who is victorious will have to win four matches against four different opponents, and thus have truly earned the honour of calling themselves a champion. The seeding decisions in this tournament were made by me, and me alone. Based upon each individuals performances over the past year, as well as past accomplishments were factored into decision."
[...]
Gus Arnold: "I would also like to point out that Ralph Erickson and The Shining Stars (Ito & Kondo) will not be participating since they already hold championship gold within the promotion. Without further ado, I would like to announce the top four seeds in the tournament."
Gus looks down at his booking sheet before continuing.
Gus Arnold: "The number one seed in the CHC Tournament is the former North American Cruiserweight Champion; Willard Manchester. Willard's unblemished eight month run as Champion proves that he's deserving of this accolade."
[...]
Gus Arnold: "The number two seed in the CHC Tournament is my newest signing, and former multiple time World's Champion; Gentry McCray. Breaking news... Gentry McCray has agreed to a contract with Northern Pro Wrestling. This contract isn't exclusive, so Gentry is free to compete anywhere in the world, should he so choose."
[...]
Gus Arnold: "The third seed in the CHC Tournament belongs to the former number one contender to the Canadian Commonwealth Championship; Jackson Evans. Jackson Evans is a blue-chipper in the truest sense of the word. Evans pushed Ralph Erickson to his limit on two separate occasions, and has been dominant in his current run."
[...]
Gus Arnold: "The fourth seed in the CHC Tournament belongs to Allan Algar. Algar is one half of the Eastern Elite Tag Team, and has built himself quite the reputation as a technical wrestler all over the Canadian Independent scene over the past five years. Algar's association with the Eagle's Nest brings credibility to this decision, as I believe the best is yet to come for this young man."
[...]
Gus Arnold: "I appreciate those of you who took the time to watch this video. The rest of the bracket will be posted on the Northern Pro Wrestling website later today. May the best man win!
Our scene slowly fades away. A graphic soon follows, which details the entire tournament in greater detail.
