North American Wrestling Council
The North American Wrestling Council is an entity that houses like-minded wrestling promotions from all over the globe. While each region runs their business as they please, they all represent the ‘NAWC’ as a whole. The NAWC structure allows for talent-swaps, foreign tours and collaboration amongst regions to bring a unique wrestling experience. The NAWC was founded by Matthew Saunders in 2018 – when the former grappler turned real estate investor liquidated a large portion of his portfolio when the ‘slowdown’ in the market started to occur. Saunders has enlisted the service of Jon and Parker Smith to serve as ‘Head Booker’ & ‘Talent Scout’ respectively.
On a quarterly basis, the NAWC will aim to recognize some of the top performers within each region, and bring them together to compete. These showcases serve as a means to elevate the local talent, while showcasing their skills to a much broader audience. Any NAWC event invitation should be viewed as an honor, and treated as such. A breakthrough performance on this stage will serve as a career defining moment, and set the standard for the future. As the NAWC continues to evolve, and the partnerships grow – we can expect to see the level of competition follow suit.
The Championships
North American Championship - Jon Smith was the last WfWA National Champion, and he has brought this championship with him to NAWC, and christened it the North American Championship, which is the top championship within the NAWC entity, and is defended throughout the territories, and at NAWC events.
North American Tag Team Championship - This is the top championship in the tag team world. Wrestlers are encouraged to compete to earn this championship throughout their home regions. A tournament will take place to establish who the best tag team in the NAWC. Much like the 'NAC', this championship will tour the territories and be defended at NAWC events.
North American Cruiserweight Championship - The top prize for any wrestler below the 225lbs weight limit. This championship will travel throughout the various regions where it will be defended against the top contenders - as well as be defended at NAWC events.
